Friends and fans celebrate 2face at 37


Fans of pop singer, 2face Idibia, who turned 37  today (September 18, 2012), are celebrating with the icon on his special day.
Several fans tweeted messages of congratulations and prayers for his continued success. ‘Happy birthday to our legend 2face Idibia. I wish u many on earth’ a fan, @Olatunbosun tweeted. ‘I rejoice with millions of people all over the world celebrating ur day! Happy birthday’ @iamsleekpetr tweeted. Yet another fan, @iam _barma, congratulated the pop singer, describing him as ‘Grand commander chief of Nigerian music, Nigeria’s 2nd export after crude oil.’
Meanwhile, celebrities, including Dare Art-Alade, Ela Joe, Toni Payne and others joined thousands of others in wishing ’2Baba’ a happy birthday. @darey tweeted at the singer, ‘Happy birthday@2faceidibia, a guy, a good guy, a real guy.’
Born in Okpokwu local government of Benue State, 2face started his music career composing jingles at the Enugu Broadcasting Service, after which he moved to Lagos, met rapper Black Face, and later, singer Faze, and formed The Plantashun Boiz, a group that rocked the late 90′s and early 2000′s, before their split in 2005.
He has since become a force to reckon with in the music industry, often referred to as an African pop legend. He has won numerous awards, including the MOBO for Best African Act in 2007, BET’s 2011 International act, and many others. He also is the only non-Liberian to be inducted as a member of the Liberian Music Society. He currently owns his music label, Hypertek Entertainment, under which he released his most recent album, Away and Beyond.
