Washington D.C. Police Said They Misidentified Fatally Shot Man


D.C. police say they misidentified a man who was fatally shot by officers after a reported robbery on Christmas Eve.
On Monday D.C police said  that the man killed by officers was 33-year-old Gregory Gray, who had no fixed address. Police had previously identified the man as 29-year-old Raymond Robinson of southwest Washington.

D.C Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said she couldn’t provide details on how the mistake happened. She also had no information about Robinson’s status or whereabouts.

D.C Police have said that the man was shot by officers after robbing a person on the street outside a bank. Police say officers pursued a suspect to a dead end, where the man drew a handgun and opened fire on the officers. Police returned fire and the man was killed.
